Grantland.com published a lengthy article Tuesday on the life and controversial wrestling career of Kevin Nash with the six-time world champion reiterating his stance on “Vanilla Midgets,” a dismissive term he used behind-the-scenes in the late ’90s in World Championship Wrestling to describe small-statured, gifted technical wrestlers such as Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero, who didn’t project larger than life personalities but were heavily admired by “smart” fans. Nash said the professional wrestling industry died at WrestleMania XX when the pay-per-view event concluded with Benoit and Guerrero—both of whom were under six-feet-tall—reigning supreme as champions and emotionally celebrating. Chris Jericho, who worked his way up the wrestling ranks alongside Benoit and Guerrero, publicly took offense to Nash’s remarks and responded with another commonly used stance.

He tweeted late Tuesday evening, “Funny how @realkevinnash says wrestling “died” when Benoit and Guerrero were champs-Yet the worst year for WWE biz was 95 when he was on top.”

Nash responded to Jericho’s tweet minutes later, writing, “Once again the puppet master pulls the marks strings .Knew Jericho was a closet mark.First one eliminated on a bulls–t sing show…REALLY!!” Nash’s last insult is in reference to Jericho being the first contestant to be eliminated in the 2006 Fox Television singing reality show Celebrity Duets.

Jericho quickly shot back, “Hope @realkevinnash doesn’t tear his quad tweeting! #typicalbigman #nwothirdwheel.”

Nash’s interview comments triggering Jericho’s rebuttal were: “When Benoit and Guerrero hugged [at the end of WrestleMania XX], that was the end of the business. Has business been the same since that WrestleMania? Has it come close to the Austin era? Has it come close to the nWo or the Hogan era? You put two fucking guys that were great workers that were the same height as the fucking referees, and I’m sorry, man. Are you going to watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick? Even if you’re not gay, you will not watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick. That’s not the standard in porno films. So you put a 5-foot-7 guy as your world champion.”

Get the feeling this isn’t a work. Jericho has zero to prove to anyone, and obviously as a close pal of Eddie, Benoit and Malenko he is clearly going to take umbridge at comments like that. badly conceived comments, there’s no logic to what Nash says. Given the talents being screwed over right now by WWE re: merchandise and payments, Nash’s thought-process would only reward the physically big guys (like him, Hogan, HHH, Hall etc) allowing them to get the big paydays. The guys who can ‘go’ like Jericho, Hardy, Angle, Mysterio, Punk etc would be left fighting for scraps.

for someone with such a high i.q he says a lot of stupid things. Nash was the cena of his day shoulder blocks, big boot,power-bomb,the end.

lol no, Cena can draw. Nash needed to be with Hogan

      • bahlogan

Cena draws…but that does not mean he can wrestle worth 2 cents. Cena draws because of little kiddies and big adult kiddies who look up to an adulterer/male whore as a role model. If real wrestling skills had to be judged CENA would be in Mr. Woo woo woo shoes when it comes to Merchandise.

        • DTruth316

if by real wrestling skills you mean then none of these guys would be in pro wrestling. last time i checked it was fake.

of course if youre going for a role model/morals angle then dear lord,he’s a saint compared to most. especially the two main examples in this article.

The thing is, Nash didn’t knock Eddie and Benoit really. He even called them great workers. He’s just talking about their size and pull. Eddie could carry a company, Benoit, couldn’t. So Nash isn’t all that wrong with his assessment.

    • bahlogan

Really? Really?……Really…. Benoit was a great World Champ! He never got to hold the belt long enough to know if he could carry the company.

How many moves did Nash have in his day? 6. Just ask Jim Cornette. He had to train Glenn Jacobs to be the imposter Diesel. Nash is another reitired wrestler pissed off that the era he was in has died. I will say there was a different feeling at Wrestlemania 20 but it wasn’t the business dying, it was a change.

Nash hasn’t been relevant since the ORIGINAL NWO & he’s pissed off because nobody cares about the NWO anymore, and to this day, he’s still trying to have some type of “NWO” in the WWE…..he needs to move on & find something else to do because his days in the ring are over, and starting a “twitter war” with Jericho is just him, again, trying to stay relevant, he’s always got something to bitch about, and what does Nash care about “wrestling” anyway?? he was far from an in-ring general, he did the same 5 moves every match & was usually hurt most of the time, so most of his career was done over the mic & not in the ring

A man such as Kevin Nash has absolutely no right to speak. Especially considering he used his stroke and backstage politics to hold down guys like Jericho, Benoit, and Guerrero because he and every other big guy in WCW refused to give up the spotlight, put anybody over, and refused to help create new talent. Nash was only out for himself. WCW was killed internally because of guys like Nash. As I seem to recall, people were so sick of Nash near the end of WCW.
