Grantland.com has published a lengthy article on the life and controversial wrestling career of Kevin Nash, who has begun to gain traction in Hollywood. A notable point in the article has the six-time world champion reiterating his stance on “Vanilla Midgets,” a dismissive term he used as booker in the late ’90s in World Championship Wrestling to describe small-statured, gifted technical wrestlers who didn’t project larger than life personalities but were beloved by fans, such as Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero and Dean Malenko. “Big Sexy” feels the professional wrestling industry died in 2004 at WrestleMania XX when WWE’s “Super Bowl” concluded with the under six-foot-tall grapplers reigning supreme and emotionally celebrating. Even though both wrestlers are now deceased, he still believes they never belonged in the main event scene due to their small stature.

“When Benoit and Guerrero hugged [at the end of WrestleMania XX], that was the end of the business,” Nash says. “Has business been the same since that WrestleMania? Has it come close to the Austin era? Has it come close to the nWo or the Hogan era? You put two fucking guys that were great workers that were the same height as the fucking referees, and I’m sorry, man. Are you going to watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick? Even if you’re not gay, you will not watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick. That’s not the standard in porno films. So you put a 5-foot-7 guy as your world champion.”

Nash has the same problem with today’s “Internet heroes,” CM Punk and Daniel Bryan.

“They are not bigger than life,” he says. “I bet they could both walk through airports and not be noticed unless they have a gimmick shirt on and the belt.”

I like Kevin Nash…I marked out for the nWo, for Austin, Flair and Savage, but I also loved the effort, talent and great entertainment that guys like Eddie Guerrero put forth every time they set foot in a ring….Nash is wrong…

  • PGSucks

Wait a minute, Kevin Nash watch porno movies to see Big dicks! OMG!

  • PGSucks

No man seriusley, whats the diference, if Big Show becomes champ, wrestling is not going to be great again, the problem is that there is no competition, thats it, TNA sucks and if WWE has no competition, then they are not going to do enithing special, that it

    • bahlogan

TNA has has some great wrestlers so to diss them is wrong! TNA just needs someone over there who knows how to book the matches and you would have more competition. Austin Aries could take out CM PUNK anyday of the week.

      • PGSucks

You could have all the talent in the world, but if you dont know how to book it, you suck, period

Austin Aries sucks compared to CM Punk, and watching TNA every week makes me wanna stop watching wrestling.I’m a huge Hulk Hogan fan and even he bores me in TNA. And WWE needs to get rid of this pg shit already, its killing wrestling

Great Khali was champ and it didn’t mean anything. Jeff Hardy was champ and was one of the biggest sensations ever. No offense to Nash and his great career up until a certain point but people like him and Khali can barely walk to the ring half the time and put on the slowest most boring matches. Disliking the smaller guys is just jealousy or hate on his part because they can outwork the biggest talent almost 100% of the time. Another sad case of a wrestling legend going all bitter about the business that made them who they are.

    • Mizfit

I agree Nash is still stuck on that 90s look where a guy is supposed to be 6’4 and stacked with steroids.

  • remha

Yeah, that period in wrestling was bad, right? Almost like how that guy Diesel nearly bankrupted the WWF while he was champion…oh wait.

  • Frank

Seriously WTF is wrong with Kevin Nash? So if that would have never happened and CM Punk and Sheamus hug on national TV after defending their titles, that would be the end of the business? Mr Nash that is call recognition and respect.

  • bahlogan

It is funny that he does not talk about Shawn Michaels height or stature. Oh wait he is part of the klique so that is different…NOT! I like Nash but he needs to realize that people want more action in the ring and that is where the smaller guys deliver.

  • Mizfit

Kevin Nash hating again because the world has changed and he’s no longer relevent

  • potman

nash really is a piece of shit, get over yourself and retire already

  • Mark Newbold

Well, apart from not agreeing that I’d watch a porno to see the size of the guys dick, I thought by the headline this would be saying something different. For me, that WM was pretty much my favourite one, apart from WM17. Eddie and Chris scaled the mountain and overcome stupid opinions like this (and BTW I have a lot of time for Nash, I like him as a person and a character)
Smaller guys, like HBK and Punk absolutely can compete with the bigger athletes. What’s he trying to say, bring back weight divisions? Light Heavyweight Championship, Cruiserweight Division etc? The Superheavyweight division would be pretty dull, there would only be about 4 guys in it, and the middleweights would be the place to be.
No, sorry Kev but you’re talking bollocks. the WWE and wrestling changed massively due to one thing – going PG. With our current roster we could easily have an exciting Attitude era relaunch, and maybe WWE needs to start looking at booking shows for kids and shows for 18+ audiences. Not talking about overt sex, drugs and rock n roll but certainly more edgy storylines. CM Punks pipebomb was THE most electric moment in wrestling for years and years. More of that please (even if Punk is a Vanilla midget)
