As you can imagine, there is major backstage heat on AW (Abraham Washington) for his comments regarding Kobe Bryant and his rape case from Colorado.

During Monday’s live WWE RAW broadcast, A.W. made an off-color remark referencing NBA player Kobe Bryant’s sexual assault case in 2003 and 2004.

As client Titus O’Neil tangled with Kofi Kingston in a singles match, A.W. yelled from ringside, “Titus O’Neil is like Kobe Bryant at a hotel in Colorado hotel room. He’s unstoppable!!”

Following the commercial break, WWE broadcaster Michael Cole issued an apology on behalf of the organization for A.W.’s remark. He then quickly transitioned to a replay of a backstage segment featuring John Cena and CM Punk that took moments prior.

In 2003, Bryant was accused of sexual assault after having sex with a hotel employee in Colorado. In September 2004, prosecutors dropped the case after his accuser refused to testify. A civil suit was later filed and settled out of court.

There are many who feel a release or suspension is forthcoming, especially since WWE apologized for the remarks upon returning from break. This is similar to the Chris Jericho flag incident where the company knew they had to take some sort of disciplinary action. This is also obviously not good for Linda McMahon’s senate run.

In addition to that, Vince McMahon was not in a good mood at RAW due to the chaos that ensued just before RAW went live. We’ll have more on his mood and backstage reaction tomorrow here on the website.

Stay tuned.

Oh god really? he’s a god damn heel, WWE is pathetic and should stop worrying about Linda McMahons stupid political career

      Rape jokes are not cool.
      ask Tosh or Penny Arcade

There’s a difference between garnering ‘cheap heel heat’ and saying something that could be a trigger for fans who unfortunately have gone through sexual assault/abuse.

He’s a heel! if this was a movie or TV show nobody would even care!

i agree with the others rape is nothing to joke about i understand he is heel his job to to do things but that was just dumb and over the line and after the fire im sure vince isnt happy and will take action just bad decsion by aw

I do agree with others that say rape is nothing to joke about, but I gotta agree with KillerKali as well. The WWE wouldn’t give two shits about this if Linda McMahon wasn’t trying to get into politics. Like I said in a previous post…..double standard!

I think I would get a good laugh if I got a breaking news text saying that!

  • Rich

This is pathetic, that was hilarious. Amazing how society has become so damn ridiculously sensitive.

wrong night for aw to fuck up im sure vince was already pissed about the fire which will get news coverage then aw just screwed up hate to be in his shoes

Wow Im actually so glad this happened, i mean really that wasnt cool, heel or not. That guy added absolutely nothing, with his dumbass comments during their matches, the funniest thing he ever did was throwing his shoe. Suspension is prolly forthcoming, say bye bye 2 ur push black cena/horseface!! At least that’ll be the last of him with his own personal mic.

So American’s are the world’s pussys now?

  • http://twitter.com/Choccy31 Paul

You can’t even say the word ASS on tv in america, so clearly saying anything like what AW did was gonna get heat. You can shoot people all you like, but hell have no fury if you say ASS on tv!

I get annoyed by this guy and wish he would go away, but still…..I think people are over reacting. Look at some of the shit that Vince has said, done and approved of. Katie Vick angle, all the bullshit he has done to humiliate JR, the incest angle that he was interested in doing, and there’s also that interview with the widow of Brian Pillman that happened right after his death, and I know there are plenty more to list. I know rape isn’t a funny thing to joke about, but it seems like a double standard here.
