Several people who attended last night’s SmackDown tapings in Omaha, Nebraska reported that Roman Reigns appeared to have hurt his ankle during a six-man tag match against Randy Orton, Sheamus and Kofi Kingston. The spot happened when Reigns was on the ring apron with Orton.

Reigns was seen limping around the ring during the end of the match, and he was helped to the back by a referee after the finish. The Shield suffered a post-show beatdown by the faces, but only Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins were involved.

The beauty of there being three of them is that the other two can cover for him until he gets better and he can just be a hulking brute enforcer once he can walk a bit normally until he is healed. There is a rule or clause or something that was used in the past (can’t remember its name) where the tag titles were shared among a larger group (a think it was another trio) and they could all defend. Simply bringing up that precedent (if the WWE creative team is smart enough to look at their own history or watch the Score’s Aftermath) would allow Rollins and Ambrose to defend the titles when needed.
