Triple H was interviewed by St. Louis Today to hype th 1,000th RAW. Here are the highlights…

When asked about what WWE does: “Every guy we have, whether it’s me, whether it’s the Undertaker, whether it’s John Cena playing the character John Cena, is a performer. What we did is very much the beginning of reality television. ‘Jersey Shore,’ whether people want to believe it or not, is a scripted kind-of show. They don’t give them every single word, but they give them premises and they set things up. It’s not a documentary where you follow them around brushing their teeth. And that’s what we are — we blur that line and that’s what people find intriguing.”

About Randy Orton failing his drug test and not being able to appear on Monday in his hometown: “It is important to remember that all of our wrestlers are human but they also have to be accountable.”

Why WWE can’t find new talent: “We’re trying to teach them to be the Stone Colds and the Undertakers of tomorrow, but the one thing we can’t teach is charisma. You can teach people to do moves and create story lines and the psychology of what we do, but you can’t teach someone to be the Rock. It’s an innate ability to walk into a room and have everyone pay attention. Put aside the athleticism and what happens in the ring, what our business is really about is connecting with people emotionally. If you are emotionally connected to your character, then people will want to see you. It’s true in Hollywood and movies. You don’t have to be the best actor, just be a presence.”

Are you kidding me! The Rock, Stone Cold, The Undertaker, Triple H, and John Cena all have one thing in common. They all started out as wrestlers who no one really cared to see….AT FIRST. The reason why all of these characters worked is that fact that Vince knows that shoving crap down the throat of the common wrestling fan enough times will finally get the said fans to watch said crap that is being shoved down our throats. It is the same thing as a lie being told often enough and the more it spreads the more people accept it as fact. Look at John Cena now…everything is revolving around him…even if he cannot wrestle (which in my opinion)…he sucks as a ring technician…but people just love his silver tongue Mic work because he knows how to insult everyone and make the crowd laugh all at the same time while preaching HUSTLE…?, LOYALTY (failed that one) and RESPECT (failed that one as well)…yet most wrestling fans follow along with the many fruity pebble colored assortment of t-shirts and wrist bands. The NWA back in the late 70′s and all of the 80′s was by far the best wrestling era with people who were in it for the GOLD…and not to see who can out sell the other on Merchandise.

You missed the point entirely as to what HHH was saying. Those guys you just mentioned have the key ingredient he was talking about in the first place, charisma. Yea, they may have all been guys no one cared about, but when Vince finally let them be more themselves, (minus ‘taker, come on, look at his character, no one is really anything close to that, lol), they blew up with popularity.
