For the past ten years, video content from WWE’s “Attitude Era” (1998–2002) has been edited due to a lawsuit with the World Wide Fund over the WWF initials. All WWF “scratch” logos and references to the initials had to be blurred or edited out. This directive has now changed, at least in part.

In regards to the former “scratch” logo appearing unaltered in video packages in recent weeks, use of the symbol in flashback sequences is permitted after the organization’s legal proceedings with the World Wide Fund were settled in the last quarter. However, it is unclear whether the permission extends to complete matches and other archival footage.

Meanwhile, WWE.com published a photo gallery Tuesday chronicling the long line of Presidents, Commissioners and General Managers that have ruled over sports-entertainment and a shot of Mick Foley donning a T-shirt with the WWF “scratch” logo on display is shown.

      I beg to differ. To many outsiders, they still reference to it as WWF.

        the main audience for the PG era doesnt really know that. my 11year old nephew loves wrestling and never knew it was WWF.

    Totally agree, it will always be ‘The Federation’ to me. Never got used to WWE, time to bring that classic name back!

    Hell yea…I still hate the WWE name to this day. I miss the World Wrestling Federation days. Screw the World Wildlife Fund. Bring back the WWF, as in WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION!

    I hope the whole thing with the “World Wildlife Fund” gets resolved. I would personally love for the “F” to come back than the “E”. “Entertainment” doesn’t really have a spice to it, but for “Federation”, it does. It’s a good name appeal and it’s truly, a Federation!
