Following John Cena’s public divorce and recent injuries, there has been more talk backstage about finding the next “top guy” for WWE, someone that Cena could pass the torch to.

The general feeling is that the next guy should be in his mid-20s right now. CM Punk is 33, a heel and also doesn’t have the look WWE wants for the top guy

Sheamus has the look and is liked by the “right people,” but he is 35, the same age as Cena right now.

As reported some time back, many believe whoever is picked as the next “top guy” will be the last hand picked star by Vince McMahon.

Antonio Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler or Cody Rhodes

  • betterthanyou

ITS GOTTA BE DOLPH! Think about this for a minute, he has a great physique, he’s the BEST in ring worker they have, his mic skills are far better than Cena, AND lets not forget he’s about to get the world title. I have Cody going 2nd, but the kicker here is, can these guys get over as faces??

Cody’s lisp will forever hold him back lol….he can be a great heel, but never a face because the crowd would just clown him for that lisp, just like anyone else w/ one IE: Jack Swagger

Tough one, I would say Sheamus in the short term, Ziggler longer term (although he’s 30 and been around longer than people think) Cena has a while yet, but need to prep the next big thing. None of the names mentioned strike me as the next big thing, but there are enough names up there (Ziggler and Punk at the top of the list) to keep things interesting.

Honestly? I like Rhodes, Ziggler, I guess Ryback is alright if he can learn to be less sloppy and reckless in the ring. But I would love to see a guy like Kofi Kingston pushed and used right. Something different and unexpected.

I would say Kofi would be a good push, he’s a solid worker, a decent face, other than Dolph – could he be a good face??? Not sure who they could push? How old is ryback??

    Jimmy Uso! anyone but Roidberg

wwe next top guy should be DREW MCINTYRE!!! HES 27 HES TALL AND HES A GOOD WRESTLER AND UNDERUSED

Drew McIntyre hasn’t really been given a BIG chance, but this shit he’s doing now with Slater & the others is just TERRIBLE, you can tell he’s not comfortable with what they do & it just looks completely forced & stupid….Randy Orton (although he is 32) would be an obvious choice, at least for the next year or 2 (not sure what “look” they are looking for though), but i’d guess it’d be a guy the size of Sheamus, Batista, Brock Lesnar, Triple H, etc….i’d look for Cesaro or possibly even Ryberg (oops, Ryback), to be one of the choices, not saying they’re the NEXT BIG THING, but i think the WWE execs will looks at guys that size…..gotta have mic skills tho
